Pisces Dream | Astrology, Aromatherapy, and the Dreamer Archetype
Barbara HudakShare
Pisces energy moves like water, around obstacles rather than through them, finding the path of least resistance not out of weakness but out of wisdom. It feels everything. It imagines everything. It holds the full spectrum of human experience with a tenderness that can look like softness from the outside but is, at its core, a profound kind of strength.
If you have Pisces in your chart, Sun, Moon, Rising, or anywhere else, you know this energy. You feel it as the pull toward beauty, the ache of empathy, the way music or art or a particular quality of light can move you to tears before you even understand why. You also know its shadow: the tendency to dissolve into others, the difficulty of boundaries, the retreat into fantasy when reality becomes too sharp.
Pisces Dream was made for all of it.
The Astrology of Pisces | February 19 to March 20
Pisces is the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac, a Mutable Water sign ruled traditionally by Jupiter and, in modern astrology, by Neptune. In the natural wheel of the zodiac, Pisces governs the twelfth house, the house of the unconscious, dreams, solitude, spiritual surrender, and what lies beyond the visible world. This is the house of what dissolves and what transcends.
The Mutable modality gives Pisces its fluidity and adaptability. Where Fixed signs sustain and Cardinal signs initiate, Mutable signs complete and transition. Pisces arrives at the end of the zodiacal cycle carrying the accumulated wisdom and wounds of all eleven signs before it. There's a reason Pisces is associated with both profound compassion and profound sensitivity: it has, in some archetypal sense, already lived everything.
Jupiter's traditional rulership gives Pisces its expansiveness, its faith, and its capacity for joy and generosity. Neptune's modern rulership gives it the dream, the vision, the longing for something beyond the ordinary, and the occasional difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what is imagined.
Pisces's symbol is the Two Fish, swimming in opposite directions, one toward the depths of the unconscious, one toward the surface of ordinary life. The Pisces journey is learning to move between these two worlds with grace, to be fully present in the material world without losing the thread that connects to something larger.
The Psychology of the Pisces Archetype
The qualities most associated with Pisces, deep empathy, imaginative capacity, spiritual sensitivity, and the longing for transcendence, have been explored across multiple traditions in psychology. Three frameworks offer particular insight into this archetype.
Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious is perhaps the most Piscean idea in all of psychology. Jung proposed that beneath the personal unconscious lies a deeper layer of psyche shared by all of humanity, populated by archetypes, symbols, and the accumulated experience of the species. Pisces, the sign most naturally attuned to what lies beneath the surface of ordinary awareness, is the archetype most at home in this territory. Jung's work on dreams, active imagination, and the symbolic life speaks directly to the Pisces way of knowing.
Psychologist Abraham Maslow's concept of peak experiences, moments of profound awe, beauty, or transcendence that temporarily dissolve the boundaries of the self, maps closely onto the Pisces emotional signature. Maslow found that peak experiences were associated with greater creativity, deeper empathy, and a more expansive sense of meaning. For Pisces, these moments aren't rare exceptions but a recurring way of moving through the world.
Kristin Neff's research on self-compassion is particularly relevant for the Pisces shadow. Neff's studies found that individuals who extend the same compassion to themselves that they naturally offer others show greater emotional resilience, lower anxiety, and more sustainable empathy. For Pisces, the archetype of boundless compassion, learning to include oneself in that compassion is often the central psychological work.
Pisces Dream | Blue Lotus, Neroli, Sandalwood, Copaiba & Ylang Ylang
Our Pisces Dream Essential Oil Roll-On is handcrafted in Sedona, Arizona with a floral, sweet, woody, and balsamic blend chosen to embody the full spectrum of Pisces energy, the imagination, the depth, the tenderness, and the quiet wisdom beneath it all:
- Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea): revered for thousands of years in Egyptian and Ayurvedic traditions as a plant of spiritual insight, elevated consciousness, and creative vision. Its aroma is floral, slightly sweet, and deeply calming. In aromatherapy, blue lotus is associated with opening the mind to inner knowing and supporting meditative and dream states, precisely the qualities that allow Piscean intuition to emerge clearly. For this archetype, blue lotus is the oil of the dreamer, the one who sees with the inner eye.
- Organic Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara): distilled from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, neroli is one of the most emotionally sophisticated oils in the aromatherapy tradition. It bridges brightness and depth, supporting both emotional openness and the courage to be genuinely vulnerable. For Pisces, neroli is the oil of tender courage, the willingness to feel fully without being overwhelmed.
- Sandalwood (Santalum album): the grounding base note that anchors Piscean dreaminess in the body. Sandalwood quiets the mind, supports presence, and creates the quality of inner stillness from which genuine intuition, as opposed to anxious fantasy, arises. It's the reminder that the deepest dreams are rooted in the body.
- Copaiba (Copaifera officinalis): a resinous oil steam-distilled from the oleoresin of the copaiba tree, native to South America. Its aroma is warm, woody, and gently balsamic. In the Pisces blend, copaiba provides a soft, enveloping warmth, the aromatic equivalent of being held.
- Organic Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata): intensely floral, sweet, and exotic, ylang ylang has been used across cultures to support emotional release, sensory pleasure, and the opening of the heart. For Pisces, ylang ylang is the oil of surrender, the beautiful, necessary release of control that allows the deeper current to move through.
All blended in organic coconut oil and infused with a Herkimer "diamond" quartz crystal, Sedona red rocks, and 24K gold flakes; informed by the inspiration of gifted astrologer Shana Eva. Prepared within our custom nine-foot orgonite crystal pyramid chamber, handcrafted in Sedona by Team Light founder Rion De'Rouen.
How to Work with Pisces Dream
-
Crystal activation (first use). Hold the bottle gently between your hands. Take a slow, intentional breath. Set your intention or repeat the affirmation:
"I honor my imagination, trust my inner knowing, and move gently with life's currents."
The Herkimer quartz crystal becomes a symbolic anchor for your practice from this moment forward. - Apply. Roll lightly onto the wrists or other external pulse points.
- Breathe and arrive. Take three slow, conscious breaths. Inhale the floral, sweet, balsamic aroma. Let the edges soften. Let the body settle.
- Set your intention. What does it mean for you to trust your inner knowing today? What creative vision is asking to come through? What would it look like to offer yourself the same compassion you so naturally extend to others?
- Use it often. Pisces Dream is made for daily use, during meditation, journaling, creative work, dreamwork, or any moment when you want to reconnect with your imagination and your intuition.
Who Is Pisces Dream For?
Pisces Dream was created for Pisces Sun, Moon, and Rising placements, but it's for anyone working with Pisces themes right now. That includes anyone navigating questions of empathy, creativity, spiritual longing, boundaries, or the particular challenge of being deeply sensitive in a world that doesn't always honor sensitivity.
It's for the empath who's learning that their sensitivity is a gift, not a liability. It's for the creative who's finding their way back to the work after a long absence. It's for the one who dreams vividly and is learning to trust what the dreams are saying.
And honestly? If the floral, sweet, woody, balsamic scent simply speaks to you, that's reason enough.
