The Hearts Behind the Alchemy

How Friendship, Shared Practice, and the Red Rocks of Sedona Inspired STAR CODE Alchemy

Our meeting was written in the stars and grounded in Sedona.

Long before there were handcrafted blends, crystals, labels, or a studio among Sedona’s red rocks, there was a meditation group in the Phoenix area and the beginning of a friendship.

We met there in 2014. We realized then that we were neighbors, living only five minutes apart.

At the time, neither of us knew that the connection forming in that meditation circle would one day become STAR CODE Alchemy. We simply recognized something familiar in one another: a shared curiosity about consciousness, energy, personal transformation, and the wisdom that can become available when we grow quiet enough to listen.

As our friendship developed, we discovered another unexpected connection. We share the same birthday.

Our backgrounds, however, began in different places. Nathalie Marie is originally from Paris, France. Barbara is a first-generation American whose family roots are in Poland. Those distinct European influences are part of the personal histories we each bring to our friendship and creative partnership.

The Experience That Led Us to Sedona

The path to STAR CODE Alchemy began taking shape when members of our meditation group attended a 2017 conference presented by Team Light in Sedona.

Shortly after that experience, Barbara was inspired to purchase a handcrafted nine-foot-tall Team Light pyramid chamber. She had already been blending essential oils for over two decades, but the pyramid inspired her to explore bringing her oils and crystals into the space during meditation.

What began as  Barbara's personal creative practice soon became something we wanted to explore together.

Barbara invited Nathalie Marie to join her for a meditation inside the pyramid. We brought in the essential oil blends and crystals, then combined them with focused intention, meditation, Nathalie Marie’s light language and symbology, and the energetic awareness we both brought to the experience.

This was the beginning of what we came to call the "alchemy".

For us, the word does not describe a promise of supernatural change. It describes the coming together of distinct elements: aroma, nature, crystals, meditation, intention, symbolism, and heart-focused awareness. Each element retains its own character while contributing to an experience greater than any one element alone.

The pyramid chamber also became part of Barbara’s connection to Sedona. What began with a conference and a meaningful purchase eventually helped lead her to the place that would become both her home and the physical home of STAR CODE Alchemy.

A Shared Language of the Heart

Heart coherence became another foundation of our personal practices and our work together.

Barbara Hudak, MS, BSN, RN, is a Registered Aromatherapist®, HeartMath® Certified Coach and Senior Trainer, Reiki Master Teacher, and Bio-Well™ Certified Advanced Practitioner. She served on active duty in the US Air Force and achieved the rank of Major before transitioning to civilian nursing at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ.

Nathalie Marie is a HeartMath® Certified Trainer and Coach, Certified Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, and Bio-Well™ Certified Advanced Practitioner.

Through our respective HeartMath® training, we learned practical ways of working with breath, attention, and heart-focused awareness to support self-regulation, resilience, and greater inner clarity.

For us, coherence is more than something we teach. It influences how we communicate, make decisions, and approach the creative process.

Before formulating a blend, beginning a collaboration, or preparing products in the studio, we intentionally pause. We return our attention to the heart and listen for what feels clear, grounded, and aligned.

That pause matters.

It helps us move beyond simply asking, “What should we create?” and toward a more meaningful question:

“What kind of experience do we want to invite?”

Where Science, Nature, & Energy Awareness Meet

STAR CODE Alchemy grew from the meeting place between our complementary perspectives.

Barbara brings a background in nursing, professional aromatherapy formulation, HeartMath® coherence practices, and evidence-informed wellness. Nathalie Marie brings an intuitive and energetically focused perspective shaped by HeartMath® training, Reiki, hypnotherapy, light language, symbology, and years of transformational work.

As Bio-Well™ Certified Advanced Practitioners, we also share training in the use of Bio-Well technology as a wellness assessment and self-awareness tool. Bio-Well sessions are not medical evaluations or diagnostic procedures. We use the information as one potential point of reflection within a broader conversation about energy awareness, stress patterns, and personal well-being.

Neither of our perspectives stands alone.

We believe botanical knowledge, product safety, and thoughtful formulation matter. We also believe the way something is created, including the attention, care, environment, and intention surrounding it, can become a meaningful part of the experience.

• A consistent practice can help you remember an intention you do not want to lose in the busyness of daily life.

These practices are not meant to replace medical care or tell you what you should believe. They are invitations to listen within and create a more conscious relationship with your own well-being.

Why Intention Matters to Us

An intentional practice does not have to be elaborate to be meaningful.

It may be applying an aromatic blend to your wrists before beginning your day. It may be taking three slower breaths before an important conversation. It may be holding a bottle between your hands and remembering the intention you chose for yourself.

Small practices can become steady points of return.

That understanding guides the way we create each STAR CODE Alchemy blend. Our products are handcrafted in small batches in Sedona using carefully selected botanical ingredients. Our roll-ons incorporate elements such as Herkimer quartz crystal, Sedona red rock energies, and 24K gold flakes, while our mists are infused with clear quartz crystal.

Our blends are also prepared within the Team Light pyramid that first became part of our story years ago. We use the space for meditation, focused intention, and the creative practices that have been part of our collaboration from the beginning.

These elements are not presented as medical treatments or guarantees of a particular outcome. They are part of a sensory and symbolic experience designed to complement mindfulness, intentional living, and personal wellness practices.

Created Through Sisterhood

STAR CODE Alchemy is also the expression of a sisterhood.

Building a company together has asked us to bring our different strengths, perspectives, and ways of knowing to the same table. We do not always approach a question from the same direction, and that has become part of the strength of what we create.

Barbara may begin with formulation, safety, or research. Nathalie Marie may notice the energetic quality, emotional tone, symbolism, or deeper intention of a blend. Through conversation, meditation, testing, and refinement, those perspectives come together.

The finished creation carries something neither of us would have made in quite the same way alone.

That is what co-creation means to us. It is not one person disappearing into the other’s vision. It is two distinct voices listening deeply enough to discover what can emerge between them.

Rooted in Sedona, Created for Wherever You Are

Sedona eventually became the physical home of STAR CODE Alchemy.

The red rocks, expansive skies, desert botanicals, and quiet power of this landscape continually influence our work. Our products are blended, prepared, and packaged here in small batches, with attention to freshness, craftsmanship, and detail.

Yet the experience we hope to create is not limited to Sedona.

Wherever you live, whatever your spiritual beliefs, and however full your days may be, you can create a moment of intentional connection.

From Our Hearts to Yours

What began with two neighbors meeting at a meditation group in 2014 has grown into a friendship, a creative partnership, and a company built around shared purpose.

A Team Light conference first brought us to Sedona together. A pyramid created a space for exploration. Essential oils, crystals, meditation, light language, symbology, heart coherence, and shared intention became the elements we brought into that space.

Their coming together became our alchemy.

Today, STAR CODE Alchemy continues to unite professional aromatherapy, heart coherence, energy awareness, botanical wisdom, symbolism, and intentional personal practices. Beneath all these elements is something even simpler: our belief that small, conscious moments can help us reconnect with ourselves.

Every blend we create carries that intention.
